Remote marketing jobs: roles, skills and how to show results
By HRjobs · · 5 min read
Short answer
Remote marketing jobs include content and SEO, paid advertising, email and lifecycle marketing, social media and growth roles. Employers hire on results, so the strongest applications show measurable outcomes: traffic grown, leads generated, cost per acquisition reduced. Content and SEO roles are often the most open to international and async work.
Common remote marketing roles
- Content marketing and SEO: planning, writing and optimising articles that rank
- Paid acquisition: running ads on Google, Meta or LinkedIn against a budget
- Email and lifecycle: onboarding and retention emails, segmentation, automation
- Social media: content calendars, community management, reporting
- Growth marketing: experiments across the funnel, often with analytics and A/B tests
Show results, not responsibilities
“Managed the blog” says little. “Grew organic sign-ups from 200 to 1,100 a month in nine months” gets interviews. For each portfolio piece, state the goal, what you did, and the measurable result, with screenshots from analytics where you can share them.
Working remotely in marketing
Marketing teams rely on written briefs, shared dashboards and regular reports. Mention the tools you know (Google Analytics 4, Search Console, Ahrefs or Semrush, HubSpot, Meta Ads Manager) and give an example of reporting results to a manager in writing.
